Limits of Liability PA Value® Class Definitions
Class A - A physician assistant who performs tasks ordinarily reserved for a physician and who works under the direction and supervision of a qualified licensed physician to assist the physician in the diagnostic management of patients. .
Class B - A physician assistant who is involved in any of the following: 1. Assisting in Surgery - Any exposure to an operating room other than for observation with General Practitioner/Family Practice or General Surgeon; 2. Any exposure to Trauma/Emergency room procedures or responsibilities thereof (10 hours or less a week); 3. OB exposure limited to prenatal or postnatal care; and 4. Assisting in anesthesiology.
Class C - A physician assistant who is involved in any of the following: 1. Assisting in Surgery - any exposure to an operating room other than for observation with Orthopedic Surgeon, OB/GYN Surgeon, Cardiovascular Surgeon, Thoracic Surgeon, Neurosurgeon and/or Plastic Surgeon; 2. Any exposure to Trauma/Emergency room procedures or responsibilities thereof (more than 10 hours a week); 3. Exposure to OB including delivery room responsibilities; and 4. Exposure to cardiac catheterization lab.
Class D - Students currently attending an AAPA approved physician assistant program.

Arkansas, Connecticut, Kansas, Massachusetts, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio & Rhode Island MUST SUBMIT A COMPLETED STATE AFFIDAVIT ALONG WITH YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION, TO PROCESS COVERAGE. This affidavit will appear as an attachment to the rate chart for your specific state.
No Gap Coverage With Retroactive Date
If you are currently insured individually under a claims made policy and you wish to ensure no gap coverage from your existing policy—YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION FOR PAVALUE ONLINE.
Instead, we ask that you kindly download and print a PDF hardcopy of the application and rate chart for your state, complete it by hand and either submit by fax or mail—along with A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT CLAIMS MADE POLICY as attachment, which is required for processing no gap malpractice insurance coverage.
